Responsible for understanding the merchandising strategy and maximizing return on investment in space. This includes, partnering with merchandising leaders and internal/external business partner to support the planning, development and execution of strategic merchandising projects. This role directs a team of associates in delivering merchandised store plans for capital intensive initiatives that drive store execution and increases in space productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- 40% Collaboration & Relationship Management: Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver on key objectives such as; merchants, real estate, store operations, project management, and field execution. Takes a leadership role in establishing solutions to meet key business needs and drive trusted partnerships.
- 30% Quality & Speed to Market: Leads continual process improvement efforts, by challenging status quo through technology, innovation, and associate development. Evaluates process effectiveness and maximizes workflow efficiencies. Improves quality by evaluating store operations & execution challenges to improve speed & service.
- 20% MacroSpace Optimization: Supports the merchant by blending department and category specific merchandising criteria with key metrics. Leverages analytics, customer insights, and operational insights to develop merchandising plans that optimize return on space and drive operational efficiencies in store.
- 10% Talent management: Actively supports recruiting and on-boarding efforts. Understanding of company culture, processes, and tools. Effectively manages to associate strengths, develops their critical thinking and solution development acumen. Provides opportunities & publicizes recognition for team members.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- This position reports to Sr Director of Space Management
- This position has 15 Direct Reports
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience in space management and construction experience for large format retail
- Proven record of developing a high performing customer centric team
- MBA preferred

- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Hybrid – An associate in a hybrid role blends in-office and remote/virtual working to complete their job duties. An associate may be required to work from a designated Home Depot location on some days, and may work from a virtual/remote location on others. We also refer to this as location – flex.
