Pay Range
The pay range for this position is between $90,000.00 – $190,000.00.
Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. The Home Depot offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits, which may include a performance-based bonus program or a profit sharing program depending on position.

As we continue to expand, we are seeking an ambitious and talented Staff Data Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a unique opportunity to work on innovative projects that shape the future of retail media!
The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for leading a team of engineers building and designing a product that our customers and associates love. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers of all experience levels who help each other build and grow technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. In addition, Staff Software Engineers will assist in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring.
Staff Software Engineers contribute to foundational code elements that can be reused as well as architectural diagrams and other product-related documentation. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a core player on the product team and are expected to build and grow the skillsets of the more junior Engineers.
What You'll Do:

Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance software services that support both real-time and batch data retrieval and processing.

Work within Google Cloud Platform to deliver highly available low latency solutions using Python, Kubernetes, Apache Airflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and other products.

Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate software solutions.

Build SDKs, APIs for seamless integration across multiple tools and services.

Develop monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues in data infrastructure.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of data engineers, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers.

Implement data security practices, including data encryption, access controls, and compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
6-10 years of relevant work experience
Extensive experience working with database engines, and with optimizing file formats, database structure, and partitioning.
Extensive experience working with Python
Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
Extensive experience working with Microservices architectures using products such as Docker and Kubernetes
Experience in CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Spinnaker
Experience with Infrastructure as code solutions, preferably Terraform
Experience designing and/or developing following the Medallion data lake house architecture.
Some familiarity in data engineering technologies and frameworks such as DBT, Dataform, or Databricks
Extensive Experience writing SQL queries against a relational database, and principles of database design.
Experience with technical communication including Release Notes and Instructional Documentation.
Experience in Google Cloud Platform or similar
Experience designing and implementing microservice-based architectures
Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques
Experience in implementing security frameworks for user and services authorization and authentication
Experience in creating and executing unit, functional, destructive and performance tests
Minimum Education:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
