Position Purpose
The Program Manager of Workforce Development is responsible for creating and implementing comprehensive workforce development strategies to further the growth of the home improvement industry. The team will focus developing and enhancing programs to create the next generation of skilled trades professionals and fuel talent for the THD professional contractors (Pros). Responsible for strategies and programs to help underemployed populations obtain the skills they need to obtain a living wage and then place them in jobs to expand the skilled trades industry. This position works closely with all levels of leadership throughout technology, vendor management and Pro stakeholders.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- 25% – Expand and enhance scalable solutions to expand and improve the skilled labor talent pool in the U.S. Partner with schools, government entities, and other partners (foundations, non-profits, etc.) to implement.
- 25% – Drive programs and tools to connect trades training graduates to THD’s Pro customers for job opportunities. Create methods for existing Pros to build their soft skills and improve their businesses.
- 25% – Partner with appropriate teams to build internal & external messaging and content to promote what THD is doing in the skilled trades and encourage future generations of tradespeople, as well as build partnerships with external companies in the space.
- 25% – Develop measurements and sustainability to measure program success and long-term
Nature and Scope
Typically reports to Sr Manager, Workforce Development.
May be accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others, in addition to personnel issues — including selection, termination, performance appraisal, and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Environment:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Education Required:
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience in strategic planning, program or project management, and large scale implementations, with emphasis on prior experience across Pro (store and large/special accounts), Strategic Business Development, Learning, Marketing, and/or PMOs.
- Proven track record in building high performing teams.
- Must be able to lead, influence, and drive change and work well in ambiguous situations.
- Proficient in MS Office suite.

Paid Time Off Benefits

Work From Home – Location Specific – An associate in this role primarily works from home but is assigned a THD location and is periodically required to report to their in-office location. Associates must live within the same state and within a commutable distance of their assigned THD location.
