Position Purpose:
Leads and executes medium scale or multiple projects, overseeing all aspects of initiative lifecycle and across multiple cross-functional workstreams from design to implementation. Drives project scope, proposing tailored solutions that align with business objectives, timelines, and operational needs. Ensures team accountability and successful project completion with focus on realization of key results and business impact.
Brings merchandising expertise and serves as a trusted business process leader, effectively managing stakeholder expectations, including customers, project teams, and executive leadership. Acts as a catalyst for change within the Merchandising organization, identifying opportunities for improvement across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represents the Merchandising function in business process evaluation, procedural development, system requirements definition, and functional design.
- Leads project and initiative management, partnering with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to define business needs, develop project plans, assess risks, and manage communication, implementation, training, and change management.
- Manages business and project team expectations, addressing issues and changes as they arise.
- Drives requirements-gathering efforts for development and implementation projects, ensuring alignment with stakeholders, product, technology, project managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional leaders.
- Proposes alternative solutions that best align with project timelines, business objectives, and operational challenges.
- Collaborates with cross-functional leaders, product, technology, project managers, and customers to ensure all projects effectively address business needs. Understands the underlying business case and stakeholder motivations, working with the Business Manager to refine and enhance requirements-gathering processes.
- Establishes and reports on project metrics to measure business value (ROI) and conducts audits of implemented systems and processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Typically reports to Manager Merchandise Mgt Systems
- No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ yrs business experience and/or management consulting preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years project management, consulting experience preferably in a retail environment. At least 2 years of experience managing retail/merchandising process improvement projects. Cross functional project management experience within The Home Depot.

- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
