Pay Range
The pay range for this position is between $170,000.00 – $190,000.00.
Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. The Home Depot offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits, which may include a performance-based bonus program or a profit sharing program depending on position.
Position Purpose:
The Home Depot Cybersecurity Architecture and Innovation team provides horizontal technology thought leadership and guidance for the Cybersecurity organization. Cybersecurity Principal Engineers report to a Distinguished Engineer and serve as company and industry experts for their domain, while also having a broad understanding of Cybersecurity and technology concepts. The Architecture and Innovation team executes an operational model that provides support for numerous functions, such as:
- Enterprise technology solution design guidance and assessment
- Cybersecurity solution requirements, evaluation, Proof Of Concept (POC), design, and documentation
- Cybersecurity solution roadmaps, capability assessments and rationalization
- Development of technical documentation (standards, specifications) and decision records
- Industry research to drive technology recommendations and position papers
- Guidance for Cybersecurity delivery teams and engineers
The Principal Engineer for Identity Access Management (IAM) Data Science will support the Cybersecurity team as we apply data science, machine learning, and AI to improve and mature our identity services, as well as the technology and application development teams who consume these services. The IAM Data Scientist Principal Engineer is a hands-on role, and the individual will be expected to:
- Design and protype the foundational data engineering components required to support IAM Data Science services
- Participate in cross functional planning and working sessions to advise on integration design and level of effort
- Design and optimize detection algorithms and machine learning models for identity-based scenarios
- Collaborate with data science teams across the company to understand tactics, patterns, and evolving threat
- Partner with analysts to refine policy enforcement based on real-time insights, minimizing false positives, and maximizing detection rates
- Document security patterns, research security risks, and advise technology teams on embedding security minded improvements and best practices
- Provide architectural support and direction the IAM technology ecosystem, document roadmaps, research technology solutions, and make strategic recommendations
The Principal Engineer should have proven data science and data engineering expertise, a strong understanding of identity fraud tactics, enterprise IAM experience, broad technology experience (network, compute, database, development, cloud), the ability to independently complete solution evaluation and protypes, proficiency in at least one programming language, an understanding of cybersecurity technology concepts (segmentation, authentication/authorization, encryption, vulnerability management), and knowledge of Cybersecurity frameworks.
