Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for the administrative functions related to the property taxes compliance and payment processes. This role analyses and processes all tax bills for real estate and personal property. It requires a high level of attention to detail. This role will manage administrative duties for the property tax team. No prior property tax experience is required. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Senior Tax Accountants to ensure completion of day-to-day accounting and tax operations in the Property Tax Department. This position requires the ability to work in a team environment and adherence to deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- 90% Tax Planning, Accounting, Research, Compliance, and Audit Defense as needed to meet the goals of the Department. May participate in one or more projects with governmental officials, outside counsel, and business partners. May participate in special studies to determine tax implications of company operations. May be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of tax returns, and for the accurate statement of accounting reserves, including FAS 109 and FIN 48 where applicable. May serve as liaison between SSC and subsidiary businesses in the US and internationally.
- 10% Participation in cross-functional teams.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Reports to Tax Manager
- No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree in accounting.
- 1-3 years accounting experience preferred.
- Proficient knowledge and skill using Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with general ledger software such as SAP or similar ERP.

- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.

Paid Time Off Benefits
Salaried associates are eligible for 2 weeks of vacation in their first year; FT hourly will be eligible for 40 hours of paid vacation time after 6 months of continuous service; (for positions in Washington State, Spokane, and Tacoma only) – Salary and Temporary associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked; FT associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked or 4 hours per month, whichever is greater; (for positions in Seattle only) – Salary and Temporary associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked; FT associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked or 4 hours per month, whichever is greater.
