Position Purpose:
The DesignConnect Sales Specialist is a part of a centralized, contact center design team. DesignConnect is focused on connecting our kitchen experts with our customer's kitchen and bath projects.
DesignConnect Sales Specialists takes inbound inquiries from both internal and external customers via telephone, e-mail, and fax and provide customers with information on product features, advantages and benefits, and make suggestions about related merchandise and installation services. Associates in this position provide fast, friendly service to customers and are responsible for assessing their needs and providing assistance. They know how to properly greet, qualify, recommend, and close sales for customer's kitchen and bath projects.
DesignConnect Sales Specialists focus on providing an effortless customer experience and to ensure an effective hand-off to our Kitchen and Bath Designers at The Home Depot.
Key Responsibilities:
- 45% CUSTOMER SERVICE: Engage with customers in a positive and professional manner via phone and online, answering customer inquiries, resolving customer issues, and determining customer needs to provide appropriate solution; respond to online customer "ask a kitchen expert" inquiries; schedule appointments for designers
- 45% SALES: Creates and drives sales by engaging with customers to understand their needs for the kitchen and bath projects; follows up on counter top and other kitchen and bath product quotes with customers, converting to sales; suggests related items or services to complement products purchased & to achieve individual sales goals.
- 10% SELF DEVELOPMENT: Pro-actively seeks knowledge of kitchen and bath products and services to support their role as a subject matter expert for The Home Depot products and services; maintains awareness of industry trends.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Reports to Contact Center Supervisor.
- This role has no direct reports.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Contact Center Experience
- Sales aptitude including the ability to close the sale, presentation skills, initiative/persistence, adaptability and professionalism
- Some experience in Design, Retail, Specialty Sales, etc.
- Knowledge of CDM, and/or CRM such as Salesforce
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.

Paid Time Off Benefits
