Pay Range
The pay range for this position is between $120,000.00 – $180,000.00.
Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. The Home Depot offers additional competitive and non-financial benefits, which may include a performance-based bonus program or a profit sharing program depending on position.
Position Purpose:
The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for leading a team of engineers to build and design a product that our customers and associates love. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers of all experience levels, helping each other grow both technically and as leaders. You will be instrumental in creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. Additionally, you will contribute to product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning, and production monitoring.
Staff Software Engineers will also play a key role in contributing to foundational code elements that are reusable across the team, as well as creating architectural diagrams and other product-related documentation. As a core member of the product team, you are expected to not only build the product but also mentor and help grow the skills of more junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
50% Delivery and Execution
- Lead the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software, ensuring it meets customer and business requirements.
- Take a broad, global view when approaching issues, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and high-performance.
- Develop test suites (functional, destructive, etc.) to ensure the rapid and safe deployment of code to production.
- Tackle new challenges with urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm, consistently achieving results even in tough circumstances.
- Ensure the delivery of reusable, modular code and help drive architectural improvements.

Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience, with extensive experience in both custom development and SaaS product support.
- Proficiency in Golang and React, with deep knowledge of building scalable backend services and interactive user interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically BigQuery, Pub/Sub, AlloyDB, and Kubernetes, for cloud-native solutions and modern infrastructure management.
- Experience with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
- Expertise in both relational and NoSQL databases, with practical experience in effective data modeling.
- In-depth experience with security frameworks for user and service authentication and authorization.
- Proven ability to design and execute unit, functional, destructive, and performance tests to ensure software quality.
- Strong experience with modern debugging techniques and root cause analysis to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Extensive experience in designing systems for High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), Performance, Efficiency, and Security.
- Exposure to developing technical roadmaps, including work estimation, refactoring, and modernizing legacy systems.

- Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities, essential for troubleshooting and optimizing complex issues in both custom development and SaaS product environments.
