Position Purpose:
A team leadership role that assists in creating and setting the highest standard of quality content that the team produces for all clients. Creates and develops clear and brand-relevant content/copy for homedepot.com and other web related initiatives such as blogs, community and social media. Writes and/or edits relevant and creative copy for various types of online communication for various audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- 20% Write headlines, feature articles, marketing and promotional copy for products, vendors and various categories/departments
- 20% Ensure all messaging is on target and consistent with the department/organization's objectives and vision
- 10% Work/communicate with leaders, product experts and vendors to write effective and relative copy
- 10% Edit content to adhere with online editorial standards and brand guidelines
- 10% Oversee assigned areas of site, supervising and coordinating efforts among merchants, designers and marketing managers
- 10% Ensure all work/copy/content is top quality, proofread and error-free
- 10% Plan projects and arrange schedule to meet or exceed all deadlines within budget
- 10% Work in CMS/Editing software to modify and push content/ images live
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Position reports to Reports to Mgr Online Copywriting
- No direct responsibility for supervising others.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication or other relevant area or equivalent work experience
- 5 plus years experience in writing headlines/copy, proofing and editing

- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Paid Time Off Benefits
Salaried associates are eligible for 2 weeks of vacation in their first year; FT hourly will be eligible for 40 hours of paid vacation time after 6 months of continuous service; (for positions in Washington State, Spokane, and Tacoma only) – Salary and Temporary associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked; FT associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked or 4 hours per month, whichever is greater; (for positions in Seattle only) – Salary and Temporary associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked; FT associates will earn 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked or 4 hours per month, whichever is greater.
