Position Purpose:
The Business Analyst possesses a strong merchandising knowledge base and will be part of a team representing Merchandising Operations in the D29K and D30, D59 specialty selling space ($2B in annual specialty sales). Works cross-functionally with merchants, IT, product, application providers and suppliers on assortment changes and troubleshooting for in-store configurable specialty selling applications, myCD and 2020 Kitchen Design. Contributing to and can lead medium or multiple projects including managing expectations of the customer, the stakeholders, the project team, and senior analysts/management. Proposing alternatives and solutions to requirements management for each project that most closely aligns with the specific timetables, objectives, and business issues at hand. Ensures team completion of assigned tasks during the project life cycle. Catalyst for change in the Merchandising organization. Identifies areas for improvement within merchandising management systems and the Merchandising organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- 20% Plan and lead all phases of a project's life cycle (i.e. feasibility, design implementation, evaluation); this includes extracting the business need; defining the business requirements, understanding the impact on the business, and designing and carrying out the project(s)
- 10% Serve as liaison between merchandising and finance by facilitating meetings including both departments
- 10% Mentor other analysts in developing/honing business knowledge and analytical skills
- 20% Servce as a subject matter expert and perform research and/or analysis within assigned projects
- 20% Multi-task to work on 2 to 4 projects simultaneously, recommending process improvements and making final project recommendations which impact the business
- 20% Establish and report on metrics of assigned projects to guage business value
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Reports to a director-level position within merchandising
- No direct reports, however, the position will be required to mentor others who have the need for assistance
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Good Microsoft office suite (Microsoft 365) skills
- Expertise in merchandising business processes (merchandise planning, assortment optimization, purchase order management, price/markdown optimization, etc.).
- Experience in managing cross-functional project teams to improve business processes and implement new information systems. Experience may be gained within industry or within the management consulting field.

Hybrid – An associate in a hybrid role blends in-office and remote/virtual working to complete their job duties. An associate may be required to work from a designated Home Depot location on some days, and may work from a virtual/remote location on others. We also refer to this as location – flex.
Work From Home – Location Specific – An associate in this role primarily works from home but is assigned a THD location and is periodically required to report to their in-office location. Associates must live within the same state and within a commutable distance of their assigned THD location.
