The Sr. Manager Trend and Design will work with the Director of Trend & Design to produce new style directions that reflect market trends and match customer needs. They will partner with Merchants on merchandise selection in design and development of product. This individual will provide insight to industry trend direction and leading edge home fashion ideas that will drive overall merchandising decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- 15% Research overall trends in industry. Consider factors influencing home fashions such as cost, selection of materials, production methods, new technology, safety, fashion trends and business strategy.
- 20% Acts as trend and design consultant to the merchandising group and senior leadership team.
- 20% Develop an understanding for strong, balanced assortments that include good, better, best strategy and core, must-have items. Provide trend direction in all categories.
- 10% Build and manage relationships with suppliers throughout product design and development process, in partnership with merchandising group
- 15% Serve as company and Home Depot brand representative in design and development of new product categories
- 20% Provide leadership to team of designers, including both internal company associates as well as external designers
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Position Reports to Director Trend & Design
- Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Design or related field preferred
- Knowledge of design-related computer software, including: Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, CAD, Indesign

- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
