POSITION PURPOSE
The Director, Payment Acceptance is tasked with optimizing the customer payment experience while managing the expenses and overseeing the strategic objectives associated with accepting digital forms of payment (e.g., bankcard credit, debit, mobile wallets, checks, RTP, and APMs). The primary responsibilities include managing the Company’s payment acceptance practices and infrastructure, negotiating agreements and optimizing processes to control the cost of acceptance, establishing proper technologies and processes to mitigate chargebacks/fraud, and leading the Company’s strategy related to emerging payment technologies. To be successful, the candidate will need to understand the technicalities of payment processing and be able to effectively manage the Company’s relationships with key payment processing partners. He/she will need to stay apprised of industry developments and appropriately prioritize/oversee necessary technical changes, while ensuring successful change management within the organization. He/she will also need to be an effective communicator as the candidate will represent the Company’s view on payments in external environments. He/she will need to be able to synthesize a lot of information into a digestible format and be able to clearly communicate vision, results, etc. to Senior Leadership. Finally, the position oversees a fairly large team, so the candidate will need to be able to effectively delegate, motivate, and develop direct reports.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- 25%- Oversee the day-to-day operations of bankcard acceptance practices (inclusive of process monitoring, reporting, team development, etc.) including working with technical teams to develop new capabilities and solve business and customer experience challenges with new solutions.
- 15%- Negotiate agreements with enterprise providers, payment processors, and networks. Work with Finance to set forecasted costs, cost out targets, departmental and program budgets
- 15%- Oversee management of bankcard acceptance costs (interchange) including detailed analysis of transactions to set a path for optimization and cost reduction. Act as internal consultant to other departments with regards to payments experiences and cost impact.
- 15%- Maintain constant familiarity with payment network operating rules and ensure that THD operations are compliant. Provide feedback to payment brands on existing and/or proposed rule changes as applicable. Establish position on strategic initiatives, develop compelling business case to present to Senior Leadership for approval, and set path for implementation leveraging relationships with business partners including technology, product, and operations teams.
- 15%- Promote customer and merchant-friendly payment system enhancements (including security) through external interactions with key payment system participants, advocacy groups, and government officials. Conduct presentations for key industry groups and participate in expert panels as applicable.
- 15%- Providing guidance, direction, and development of a diverse team focused on analyzing payment acceptance costs, developing new capabilities, and partnerships with third parties and internal teams on a best in class set of solutions for payments acceptance.

Environment:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Travel:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Education Required:
- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a Master's Degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience:
- 8 years
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

- Preferred MBA or equivalent
- Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems,
- Economics or equivalent.
