POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager of Sourcing for Transportation will be responsible for developing, executing, and managing sourcing initiatives (lead RFP events, conduct cost optimization projects, and identify cost savings initiatives) across various International, Domestic and Final Mile Transportation modes and service categories.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- 45% Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans to assigned categories. Work cross functionally to improve and streamline processes.
- 25% Negotiate for products and services within the assigned product category ensuring the lowest possible price.
- 15% – Develops and supports a strategic alliance with business partners. Participates in cross-functional activities focused on solving business issues and enhancing our competitive advantage
- 15% Identify and qualify vendors to provide product and services to Home Depot. Conduct research to assess vendor capabilities and product information as they relate to company needs.
NATURE AND SCOPE
- Typically reports to a Sr manager position
- Typically requires working collaboratively across multiple functions
- Typically requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
- Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.
- Typically considers new approaches within general policies and short-term goals when solving problems.
- Typically expected to provide infrequent status reports to management only as appropriate.
Essential Skills: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Education Required:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years
Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience in process implementation and required internal controls
- Strong understanding of strategic sourcing process
- Experience with financial analysis
- Experience working with large datasets
- Experience sourcing Transportation categories
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- High level of strategic and analytical thinking, project management and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to define vendor strategy at category level, establish vendor relationship guidelines and expectations. Make decision whether to maintain, exit or source new vendors.
- Ability to perform spend analysis and develop a sourcing roadmap focused on cost savings, risk reduction, process improvement, and new opportunities
- Provide insights and recommendations based on analysis, research, industry trends, benchmarking, and best practices
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills, including the ability to analyze complex data and provide useful, clear information and recommendations

Hybrid – An associate in a hybrid role blends in-office and remote/virtual working to complete their job duties. An associate may be required to work from a designated Home Depot location on some days, and may work from a virtual/remote location on others. We also refer to this as location – flex.
