Position Purpose:
The Merchandising Finance Special Projects team is at the forefront of global initiatives impacting sales, margin and inventory. This team supports the supports the VP, Sr Directors and Directors of Merchandising Finance and the EVP and SVPs of Merchandising. Major workstreams include the Strategic Planning Process, Quarterly Business Reviews, Annual STATs Financial Target Setting (sales / margin / inventory) and Blue Sky strategy support. Additionally, the Team is responsible for answering global, ad hoc questions from senior leadership by creating various analyses and presentations. Team Special Projects also supports department-level forecasting and analysis by creating financial models to be used by Merchandising Finance department support teams.
The Merchandising Finance Special Projects SFA is a key team member who creates financial models and presentations necessary to complete major workstreams, including the Strategic Planning Process, Quarterly Business Reviews, Annual STATs Financial Target Setting (sales / margin / inventory) and Blue Sky strategy support. This team member will build new tools to answer global questions about the business, and improve efficiency of current financial models and templates. The SFA partners with various teams in Home Depot to complete analyses and presentations. Given that these models and presentations will be used / seen by senior leadership, this is a highly visible role with opportunity for advancement throughout the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- 25% Oversee the administration of financial policies.
- 25% Conducts special financial studies and coordinates with other departments in the preparation of statistical studies.
- 25% Performs internal and external economic research and analyzes issues related to specific financial metrics to ensure competitiveness
- 5% Compiles or prepares reports, graphs and charts of data developed.
- 10% Recommends changes in financial analysis methods or procedures.
- 10% Assists and supervises Financial Analysts in the daily preparation and conduct of their work.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- This position typically reports to a Manager
- Typically requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
- Typically faces situations that are unstructured and require original approaches.
- Typically considers new approaches within general policies and short-term goals when solving problems.
- Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Under constant pressure to continuously meet tight deadlines, demanding quotas and/or must regularly deal with difficult situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

- Proven ability to analyze, evaluate and interpret complex data; innate intellectual curiosity
- Strong skills in quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis and strategic problem solving
- Ability to creatively and effectively navigate through new situations
- Ability to communicate with various levels of leadership
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams at once
Minimum Education:
- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Hybrid – An associate in a hybrid role blends in-office and remote/virtual working to complete their job duties. An associate may be required to work from a designated Home Depot location on some days, and may work from a virtual/remote location on others. We also refer to this as location – flex.
