Pay Range

The pay range for this position is between $101,600.00 – $150,000.00.
Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. Job Summary
BlackLocus is seeking creative, thoughtful coders to join our development team. Our people solve interesting, challenging problems while working closely with data scientists and business analysts. We build tools to make business actions simple even from large data sets. Our data mining and machine learning pipeline, as well as our user-facing applications, are built primarily in Java, Python, and JavaScript. Our services and tools are entirely cloud-deployed.
Key Responsibilities:

80% Delivery & Execution: Write clean, maintainable, high-quality code; Establish best practices across development projects; Help take new products from prototype to deployment; Solve problems with production systems and automate operations as much as possible

Stay current with advancements in technology and advocate for the appropriate use of those advancements in our own stack; End to end responsibility on projects of increasing complexity

20% Mentoring: Mentor other engineers via design and code review
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

This role reports to the Manager of Engineering BlackLocus.

This role has no direct reports.
Travel Requirements:
-
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Experience writing quality code in any language appropriate to the problem

Experience collaborating with a diverse group of people.

Knowledge in algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis

Experience with technical design and can speak to reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs

Experience with persistent data stores and their query languages
-
Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience and self-education
Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years professional experience with Java, Python or Golang as your preferred language

Experience with the full development lifecycle, from design, to implementation, testing, documentation, release, and maintenance

Familiarity with Unix shell scripting

Familiarity with GCP, AWS, or Azure

JavaScript a plus (this role is primarily BE heavy)

Paid Time Off (PTO):
