Pay Range
The pay range for this position is between $190,000.00 – $300,000.00.
Starting wage may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position being offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. Position Purpose:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Engineering Director to lead our mobile engineering organization. This critical leadership role involves shaping the future of our mobile products, developing our engineers, driving technical innovation, and ensuring the delivery of highly performant, secure, and user-delighting experiences. You will be a strategic partner to product and design, a mentor to your team, and a champion for engineering excellence, all while navigating the complexities of a fast-paced, evolving mobile landscape at a large scale retailer.
The Technology Director is responsible for collaborating across the enterprise to plan for and achieve goals of the associated domain or portfolio segment, supporting the enterprise roadmap, delivering technical and functional partner satisfaction, and driving action that helps the enterprise meet customer needs. Directors are responsible for guiding others in execution and professional development.
As a Technology Director, you will work closely with functional and technical leaders to plan for and execute enabling technology solutions. You will understand the business holistically and drive strategic alignment across teams. In addition, you will focus on outcomes; thinking through, documenting, and communicating value propositions and concrete metrics for success.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Vision & Strategy Execution:
- Develop and articulate a clear, forward-looking technical strategy for our mobile platforms (iOS, Android, and emerging technologies), ensuring alignment with overarching business goals and measurable outcomes such as increased market share and enhanced customer lifetime value.
- Translate strategic objectives into actionable engineering roadmaps, prioritizing initiatives that maximize business value (e.g., revenue growth, cost reduction, operational efficiency) and enhance customer experience (e.g., NPS, user satisfaction scores).
- Drive the adoption of scalable architectural patterns and modern development practices that ensure the long-term health and agility of our mobile codebase, resulting in improved technical KPIs like reduced crash rates, faster load times, and lower technical debt.
- Proactively identify and evaluate new mobile technologies and trends, assessing their potential to create competitive advantage and fuel future growth, with a clear focus on quantifiable benefits for the business.
People Leadership & Development:
- Build, empower, and inspire a high-performing team of mobile engineers and managers, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and innovation that drives measurable improvements in team productivity and retention rates.

Product Delivery & Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the entire mobile product development lifecycle, ensuring efficient execution, timely delivery of features (measured by release cadence and on-time completion rates), and high-quality releases (measured by post-release bug rates and app store ratings).
- Establish and enforce rigorous engineering standards, including robust testing methodologies, code quality, and security protocols, which directly contribute to enhanced app stability and data security compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement in mobile application performance, stability, and reliability through proactive monitoring, incident management, and technical debt reduction, resulting in improved Core Web Vitals (CWV) and reduced Mean Time To Recovery (MTTR) for critical issues.
- Optimize development workflows and team processes to enhance productivity and predictability, leading to measurable reductions in cycle time and increased feature throughput.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence:
- Forge strong, collaborative relationships with Product Management, UX Design, Data Science, and other engineering domains to ensure cohesive product development and seamless integration, resulting in improved cross-functional project success rates and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Represent mobile engineering interests and capabilities across the organization, influencing strategic decisions and fostering a shared understanding of mobile platform opportunities and constraints, demonstrating impact through successful advocacy for mobile-specific investments and architectural alignment.
- Communicate complex technical concepts and project statuses clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, from individual contributors to executive stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment on key outcomes and technical KPIs.
