The Test Engineer will be responsible for developing and documenting testing of finished consumer goods in a laboratory environment. They will work with the Product Engineers to determine the most applicable testing procedures for a product and develop work instructions so that the Technicians can test the product in a consistent manor. The Test Engineer will need to be mechanically inclined and help develop, set-up, maintain and operate tests and test equipment to ensure a consistent and quality output of data that can then be summarized into a test report. They will need to be able to review, develop and clearly communicate both external and internal standards to other technicians and Engineers. They will also review and interpret data to write final reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- 10% Evaluation & Reporting – Review and evaluate test results to produce test reports; recommend additional actions or steps based on those results. Work with Product Engineer and Lab Manager to determine any additional testing needed.
- 5% Maintenance – Participate in 5S organization in the lab and ensure accountable area(s) meet 5S standards. Maintain machines in accountable area(s).
- 20% Project Planning – Review and approve project requests from Product Engineers. Participate on project teams and work directly with Product Engineers and Technicians to understand product and determine applicable testing. Provide general testing expertise, guidance, protocol recommendations, and insights to Product Engineers. Determine estimated project timelines based on test request details and available resources. Work with Lab Manager to properly schedule projects consistent with lab priorities and provide ECDs to Product Engineers. Communicate product and material needs to sample coordinator.
- 25% Test Design – Provide test designs that ensure new products meet all requirements including, but not limited to, federal, state and local regulations, industry standards and THD requirements. Develop and/or set up test rigs and document test procedures based on both internal and industry standards. Develop work instructions to evaluate targeted functionality and provide test consistency and follow lab Standard Operating Procedures as applicable.
- 40% Test Execution – Directly support Technicians in executing tests, particularly tests being conducted for the first time or in situations where new test rigs are being deployed. Set up test rigs and document test procedures based on both internal and industry standards. Ensure test design follows lab Standard Operating Procedures as applicable and that all activities are completed on time.

Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronics engineering
- Experience working with Torsion, Tensile, Compression, Environmental, Material, and Durability testing equipment.
- Experience with programming software such as Labview, MATLAB, Arduino, Python, etc.
- Experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD, Fusion360, or similar 3D modeling software
- Experience with electrical testing
- Experience performing ISTA testing
- Experience with fabrication of metal or machinist work
